Summer Style Inspo: Trends I'm Excited to Wear

Life is going well right now! I have so much to be excited about, and I’m not taking it for granted. I hope you can say the same! While there are so many things I’m looking forward to right now, a big one is a season of new outfits. It’s spring and we’re on our way into summer, and with that comes a whole new wardrobe. Or- if you’re feeling particularly creative like I am- maybe not a new wardrobe but a new way of styling the one you have.  

One thing I’m really excited to wear? BOOTS AND SHORTS! Boots and skirts, boots and shorts, any kind of tall boot with some leg showing. I think it’s a really fun way to play with proportions and spice up an otherwise boring outfit. You can go all out, make an outfit that’s super out there, or you can do it casually. There’s a lot to be said for boots and shorts- my roommate taught me that! I have never felt more passionately boots than after a year of living with Ms. Lula Alhaj…

Speaking of shorts, here’s a semi-controversial one… have you ever seen a girl rocking a pair of baggy, long, low waisted jorts and just felt so in awe, so impressed? This is how I feel every time my other roomie, Ella, walks out in her shorts. This is something I aspire to pull off, something I’d really like to try this season. I’ve started LOVING my jeans being both super baggy and super low waisted, so I feel this may be the next natural step for me personally… The shorts are a bit different, so it’s a style I’ve been hesitant to try- but it’s a new season! Time to try new styles ladies n gents. Maybe we’ll get crazy and even try them with boots??

This next one, I’ve been thinking about for what feels like months now, trying to figure out if it was going to be a fad or run its course as a trend. This isn’t a specific article of clothing, but a pattern. Any guesses? GINGHAM! It’s been all over my pinterest feed for months, and it’s something I cannot wait to get on top of. Don’t know what that print is off the top of your head? Think of a classic red and white picnic blanket, and essentially there you have it. I’m really loving the classic red and white, but the different color ways are really growing on me too. I’ve seen gingham tops, bottoms, accessories, I’ve seen it everywhere. My favorite gingham piece I’ve seen? GINGHAM BLOOMER SHORTS. Which brings me to a side note- I am absolutely loving bloomer shorts too. Again, all over my pinterest feed for the past few months. Again, I’m obsessed and I cannot wait to try it out for myself. 

I have one more controversial opinion for you on our upcoming spring and summer fashion. This kind of falls under several different categories, more of an overarching trend in my opinion. Are you ready for this? Mini is out. Maxi is IN. Maxi dresses, maxi skirts, the whole nine yards. Which actually also applies to the shorts I mentioned earlier- those feel pretty maxi compared to the raw edged super short denim styles we all own, know, and love (not to say those still can’t be styled in a trendy, amazing way, but I think for me I’m moving on for now). 

So, for now, these are the styles I see coming in for the spring and potentially the summer, that I am SO excited to join in. To each their own, if a style isn’t for you- rock your own style! I think that’s what makes fashion so great. It’s everyone doing their own thing, in their own way. So that being said, take all of this with a grain of salt, it’s just my own opinion!
