Hey, it’s been a minute! If you’re new here, here’s my introduction. If you’re part of a returning audience, I have a lot to update you on!! My name is Kiana, I’m a sophomore at Purdue University, I have two jobs (so I am ALWAYS busy), I’m majoring in retail management, and I absolutely LOVE all things creative. There’s not a thing that I love more than making things and doing things where I can express my creativity. I’ve always had a thing for fashion and clothes, and I’ve been diy-ing clothes and crafts for as long as I can remember. I credit a lot of it to my mom, who definitely gave me the creative gene. My mom is the most important person in my life, and inspired me a lot throughout my creation of this brand.
I am infatuated by fashion and style and everything that surrounds it. I’m passionate about it in my own life and I love seeing it as an expression of others’. Clothing and fashion are so important to me because they truly are an expression of self. Words can only say so much and I often find myself not able to find the words to truly express myself and show who I am. But with fashion, I can express it so creatively that it consumes me. Fashion is an art form, one of the most creative ways of expressing self. I feel like there is so much to who I am, and I can’t express that verbally. But it can always be expressed through fashion. As I have grown up and changed as a person, my clothing & style has changed with me. I’m wearing different outfits and styles than I did a year ago, because I’m no longer the girl I was a year ago and that translates in my fashion choices. That’s true for more than just me, which is another reason Kiki Thrifts is so important to me. Running this brand means getting to help someone else bring out their true self and watch their confidence grow and their style adapt to it. Seeing that happen and knowing I played a role in it is something I will always cherish and never take for granted.
Outside of the obvious, one of my very favorite ways to spend time is with my roommates!! I love talking about anything & everything with them and going out with them (which is always an adventure), but we never fail to have just as much fun without even leaving our house. There’s no one I love more than those 3 women (and Harry Styles, duh). Another way that I love to spend my time is in the gym. Some days are harder than others to get there, but I’ve never regretted going. My favorite show right now is Sex in The City (the original), but before that, my three favorites ranked as The Carrie Diaries (which is actually directly linked to SITC), Gossip Girl (New York AND fashion, hello?!), and That 70s Show (forever my favorite sitcom). My dms are always open with any show or movie recs;) I love my family a lot and enjoy going home simply to get to hang out with them. I have a twin brother, 8y/o brother adopted from Haiti, 17 y/o sister, and two awesome parents that made me who I am today. Being with them at home never fails to keep me on my toes. Oh also- my favorite word in my vocabulary? GIRLBOSS.
I have genuinely never been as happy as I have been since I moved into my first dorm room at Purdue- this place took a massive toll on my mental, for the better! I still have my bad days and tough times, but I’ve never had such a great support system to turn to when I do. Over the past year I’ve done a lot of work on me, and I came out at the end the best version of myself I’ve ever been. Because of that, I’m a huge advocate of the gym, reading (self help books specifically!!), journaling, therapy, and holding yourself and the ones you love accountable, just to name a few. Those things have made the BIGGEST difference in my life. I want to share that process because I know how challenging it can be, especially when you feel like you’re on that journey alone. Getting up and choosing yourself every day is a hard thing to learn, and I want to be a resource to anyone struggling to learn how.
If you know me at all, you know the biggest role model in my life is- the man, the myth, the legend- Harry Styles himself. What can I say? The people who get it, get it. The ones who don’t, don’t. I could go on for pages about it, but that’s a post for another day!
When I do things, I do them with all of me. I often don’t know how to do anything without, well, overdoing it. A blessing and a curse! In this case- I’d say a blessing. Because man, I do LOVE Kiki Thrifts, and I’m doin’ the damn thing. I’m so excited to put all I have to offer into Kiki Thrifts again and express my creativity through this outlet.
So if you’ve made it this far (uhm first of all thank you ily), now you know all there is to know about me! You’ll see all of these parts of me expressed through my content often, and I hope you’re excited to see it! I’m so excited for everything that Kiki Thrifts is going to be, and I hope that you stick around to watch it happen and participate in some of the awesome stuff I’ve got planned!! I LOVE YOU!!
